During 1947 CMS (Anglican) christians of Central Travencore living in Madras (now Chennai) came together to form this malayalam congregation. In this same year the CSI was formed and our congregation became the CSI malayalam congregation. Our congregation worshiped at Christ Church, Mount Road, Madras - 2 (Now Anna Salai, Chennai – 2).
Land in St. Andrew’s (Kirk) Church compound was obtained from CSITA on lease in 1956. On this land a parsonage was constructed for our presbyters to stay, in 1962, from funds raised by the members of our congregation. CSITA stipulated that the lease shall continue as long as the building was used as a parsonage.
During 1972 land at Ritherdon Avenue, Vepery, Madras – 7 belonging to the CSI diocese of Madras, was purchased at the market value of land, from the diocese, from money raised by the members of the congregation. On this land our church was constructed, again by money raised by members of our congregation. After dedication of the church in 1975, our worship has always been in this Holy Trinity Church, and from this time our congregation has taken the title and designation, Holy Trinity Church CSI Malayalam Congregation.
In 1980, a plot of land at Ritherdon Avenue, Vepery, Madras – 7, close to our church was obtained on long lease from CSITA, and a Social Service Center was constructed on this land for the development of the children of our members, again from funds raised by members of our congregation.
We salute the founding fathers of our church for their vision and untiring effort which has resulted in the formation of our congregation, and our having our church, parsonage and Social Service Center building. We here pledge to uphold at all times the purpose for which our congregation has been established.
